  • January 24, 2012 - Gray Promoted to Principal

    Integrated Design Group announced today that Bradley Gray, LEED AP, has been named a company principal. Gray has been instrumental in growing key accounts and overseeing all business activities within the Dallas office. As the data center market expands, Gray continues to play a key role in driving Integrated Design Group’s business both nationally and abroad. He is currently overseeing the design effort for a number of Digital Realty Trust projects, including 900 Quality Way in Richardson, Texas, and other new projects for clients in Mexico and the Middle East.

  • December 14, 2011 - ID Garners Four Industry Awards in 2011

    Integrated Design Group announced today that it has been named to the Boston Business Journal (BBJ) Pacesetter, Inc. 500/5000, Building Design & Construction Giants 300 and Zweig Letter Hot Firm lists in recognition of its nearly 65% growth over three years. This is first year that the firm is being recognized on four industry lists, having been named a Boston Business Journal Pacesetter for the sixth consecutive time in May. Integrated Design Group placed on the Inc. 500/5000 list in 2010, but is a newcomer to the Building Design & Construction Giants 300 and Zweig Letter Hot Firm lists.

  • December 2, 2011 - ID Selected to Design Digital Realty Datacenter Park -- Dallas

    Integrated Design Group has been awarded a contract to provide architectural and engineering services for the second building to be fit out at Digital Realty’s Datacenter Park – Dallas facility located at 900 Quality Way in Richardson, TX.

    Having completed the first building at 1232 Alma Road, Integrated Design Group will prepare a design to convert the 112,000 square foot first floor and mezzanine into first-class data center space. 900 Quality Way is planned as a multi-tenant facility with 6,675 kW of IT load and over 60,000 square feet of raised floor area.

    Located in the epicenter of north Dallas' high technology corridor, 900 Quality Way sits in the middle of Digital Realty's Datacenter Park - Dallas. The campus spans almost 70 acres and includes seven buildings ranging from 15,000 to 250,000 square feet.

  • November 9, 2011 - Integrated Design Group Adds Nine

    Integrated Design Group has added nine members to its Boston headquarters and Dallas office. New employees will join the architectural, engineering and marketing groups. Joining the Boston headquarters are Thea Massouh, LEED AP, architect; Christopher Mahoney, PE, LEED AP, senior electrical engineer; Jesse Lockwood, senior marketing coordinator; Nicholas Arruda, mechanical designer; and Tim Loranger, designer. The Dallas office continues to expand with Michael M. Malone, AIA, LEED AP, architect; Doug Harden, AIA, project manager, Chris Sims, mechanical designer, and Remica Blackmon, administrative assistant.

    The firm signed on eight new clients this year and has been recognized by the Boston Business Journal for a record, three-year growth rate of 64%. With a healthy stream of new business in the pipeline, the firm expects to keep hiring well into 2012.

  • October 21, 2011 - Two Principals Obtain DCEP Certificates
    Integrated Design Group announced today that Dennis Julian, PE, ATD, DCEP and Jack McCarthy, PE, DCEP are Data Center Energy Practitioner (DCEP) Program certificate holders. They are among fewer than 200 professionals in the United States to complete the program, which was developed by the Department of Energy, and qualifies them to perform energy assessments in data centers.

    Throughout their training, Julian and McCarthy worked closely with industry stakeholders to acquire the latest knowledge and skills required to perform accurate assessments. As qualified Data Center Energy Practitioners, they offer clients of Integrated Design Group the unique qualification to identify and evaluate energy efficiency opportunities in data centers.

  • September 13, 2011 - Steve Januskis Named Head of Electrical Engineering

    Integrated Design Group announced that Steven Januskis, PE, has joined the firm as head of electrical engineering. A licensed engineer in 12 states, Januskis brings 24 years of experience in data center design to his new position.

    Januskis will oversee a team that works with each other and the firm’s mechanical engineering and architectural disciplines to design critical facility solutions for clients. Integrated Design Group is currently working on projects for Fidelity Investments, Digital Realty Trust, University of Connecticut, Tufts University, and several confidential clients.

     

    August 15, 2011 - Dennis Julian contributes to ANSI/BICSI Best Practices Standard

    Integrated Design Group announced that Dennis Julian, PE, ATD collaborated on the American National Standards Institute/Building Industry Consulting Service International (ANSI/BICSI) 002-2011 standard entitled Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices.

    ANSI is a premier source for timely, relevant, actionable information on national, regional, international standards and conformity assessment issues. BICSI provides information, education and knowledge assessment for individuals and companies in the information technology systems (ITS) industry. The BICSI International Standards Program has subjected this standard to a rigorous public review and resolution of comments, which is a procedural part of the development of a BICSI standard, and which are reviewed every five years. In addition to publishing these standards, BICSI provides courses, conferences and professional registration programs through which BICSI staff and volunteers assist ITS professionals in delivering critical products and services, and offer opportunities for continual improvement and enhanced professional stature.

  • August 1, 2011 - Integrated Design Group Funds ACEC Scholarship

    Integrated Design Group announced that proceeds from its 21st Century Data
    Center Symposium will fund a scholarship through the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). ACEC’s local chapter, known as the Dallas Council of Engineering Companies, will select an eligible graduating high school senior in April, 2012.

  • June 28, 2011 - Mark Monroe Named Chief Technology Advisor

    Integrated Design Group has tapped Mark Monroe to be its new chief technology advisor. An expert in corporate sustainability, data center efficiency, and multiple aspects of information technology, Mark will help the firm maintain technological leadership in the design of data centers. In addition to his new role, Mark will continue his duties as executive director of the data center industry non-profit consortium, The Green Grid.

  • May 31, 2011 - Firm Hosts 2nd Annual 21st Century Data Center Symposium
    Integrated Design Group hosted its second annual 21st Century Data Center Symposium in Dallas on May 19th. More than 150 professionals representing all sectors of the data center industry were in attendance. The event featured seven sessions and an economic development panel, all focused on the economic considerations of owning and operating a data center.     • May 2, 2011 - Firm Named BBJ Pacesetter for Sixth Consecutive Year

      The Boston Business Journal has again named Integrated Design Group to its annual list of the area's fastest-growing private firms. Only three other businesses have made the list for six years, and Integrated Design Group is the only firm in the design industry to be honored this year.

    • April 19, 2011 - Integrated Design Group Moves into New Headquarters

      Integrated Design Group announced today that it has relocated its headquarters to 133 Federal Street in Boston’s Financial District.  The firm outgrew its space on Chauncy Street and moved into 14,200 SF on the fourth and fifth floors of 133Federal Street, located between High Street and Franklin Street. The interior fit-out was designed by an internal team of architects, and features a high-tech space that relies upon natural and ambient lighting, bright colors, and exposed building materials.

      “As designers of high-tech spaces, we felt it was extremely important that our headquarters reflect the qualities of the buildings we design,” said Erika DeRoche, LEED AP, architectural designer, and a member of the internal design team. “Although the function of our offices varies from that of data centers, the design reflects the emphasis on functionality that exemplifies our corporate culture. The result is a bright, airy office space juxtaposed with concrete, metal and other hard surfaces.”

    • March 10, 2011 - Principal Robert Stein Speaking at SCUP Conference

      Robert Stein, AIA, LEED AP, Principal at Integrated Design Group, Inc. has been selected to speak at the SCUP North Atlantic Regional Spring 2011 Conference. The presentation, "Vital University Technology: Update Data Centers Economically for Skyrocketing Needs" is a collaboration with Brown University and Gilbane Building Company. It is based on the upgrade to Brown University's Watson Data Center, which faced the challenges of accommodating the ever expanding growth demands of the facility, while maintaining a specific budget. Stein will discuss how Integrated Design Group helped Brown devise a plan to provides a scalable expansion of the computer room and accompanying infrastructure to meet the needs of the facility today, as well as into the future.

    Staying at The Forefront of Data Center Design
    Integrated Design Group, Inc. is proud to announce the addition of Senior Mechanical Engineer Ken Gill, PE, to its rapidly expanding Texas design team, based in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area. Ken is recognized nationwide for his engineering design skills, his lectures and his technical publications relating to mechanical systems for large buildings. He serves on ASHRAE Technical Committee's 9.1 and 9.8, concerning large building air conditioning systems, and on ASHRAE's Technical Committee on Systems Commissioning for buildings. In addition, Ken is regularly published in "Heating Piping and Air Conditioning" and sits on the magazine's Editorial Advisory Board. At Integrated Design Group, Ken is working on data center projects in Dallas and San Antonio, TX, as well as projects in Kansas City, MO and Seattle, WA.

    Integrated Design Group opens Dallas office
    Integrated Design Group, Inc. has opened a new office in the Dallas area. The new location at 102 Decker Court in Irving, Texas, was established to meet the needs of the firm’s rapidly growing data center design practice. This office will provide integrated architecture and MEP engineering services, as well as interior design and project management for its clients. Principal Jack McCarthy has relocated to Dallas to lead the firm's growth, along with Regional Manager Brad Gray and Tom Ames in Business Development

    The 21st Century Data Center Symposium, May 25th, 2010
    Integrated Design Group, The Cavan Group, and Tishman Construction presented a unique, one-day conference at the Microsoft Research & Development Center in Cambridge, MA, on May 25th, 2010. Integrated Design Group Principal Jack McCarthy spoke to an executive audience on design center trends, including discussion on modular and scalable infrastructures, multi-tiering and multi-zoning, and efficient high density cooling. Other speakers included Ron Tishman of Tishman Technologies, John Martin of the Cavan Group, and Rona Newmark of EMC. The symposium was designed to help executives plan for the next generation of data centers and get the most out of their existing infrastructure.

    Principal Dennis Julian named Accredited Tier Designer
    In keeping with the philosophy established by Integrated Design Group to have practitioners at the vanguard of current data center design trends, Principal Dennis Julian, PE, has earned the title of an Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) by the Uptime Institute. The ATD program is a comprehensive training course for design professionals to enhance their understanding of the practical application of Tiers. Dennis, who has been with Integrated Design Group for the last four years, has over 25 years of experience and has managed and engineered a wide variety of data center and mission critical projects. He has served as the Principal-in-Charge for data center projects for Switch & Data and Digital Realty Trust.

    Integrated Design Group named fastest growing company for fifth year in a row
    Integrated Design Group, Inc, was named to The Boston Business Journal's 2010 list of local Pacesetters - the fastest growing private companies in Massachusetts, ranked by revenue growth. This is the fifth year in a row the firm has made this list.

    Integrated Design Group solves site constraints with a modular chiller plant
    Integrated Design Group was hired by a co-location data center provider to design the rehabilitation of an existing 160,000 SF building in the northeast area of the United States to maximize leasable raised floor area. The project had a goal to be prepared for occupancy by the first clients within six months. Due to considerable site constraints, idGroup provided designs for an off-site fabricated modular chiller plant that contains cooling towers, multiple 900-ton chillers, plate and frame heat exchangers, pumps and all electrical gear. All of this equipment – housed in a structural steel enclosure meeting loading, seismic and acoustical requirements – was fabricated in Ontario and shipped to the site in sections.
