Charter One Bank
Citizens Bank leased two floors of a new 48-story high-rise in downtown Chicago to house the local headquarters of the newly acquired Charter One Bank. The unusual oval shape of the building, and beautiful light and scenic views led to a design solution in which the perimeter of the building is visible from all occupied areas of the space. Separate executive enclaves, typical in traditional corporate architecture, were replaced by a more functional and egalitarian model. Because of this design Charter One executives and staff of all levels have been allowed to share in the inherent benefits of the building.
