5,000 SF Computer Room
Services: Project Management, Architecture, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection and Plumbing.
Integrated Design Group, Inc. was hired by the University of California at Santa Barbara to develop a new data center in the existing North Hall, near the center of the UCSB campus where the University's outdated data center was located. Due to increasing needs, UCSB required the new Research Data Center to be flexible and scalable in order to provide the opportunity for future expansion when needed. The existing facility posed significant limitations on height, limiting both the depth of the raised floor and the overall height within the computer room.
The renovation and expansion of this existing critical data center containing enterprise computing and all campus network connections is transforming an outdated facility into one with nearly double the raised floor space (up to 5,000 SF) and one that will be able to support the latest in high performance computing. The virtually new data center will be served by re-designed and updated mechanical and electrical systems that are to be installed while the existing facility, with all campus links, remains operational.
